There’s something extra special about baking with apples that came straight from your own tree—especially when that tree has been growing for more than a hundred years. Every fall, our old apple tree still puts out beautiful fruit, and I love finding simple ways to turn those freshly picked apples into something warm and delicious. This Apple Cider Bread is one of those recipes: cozy, rustic, and packed with fresh apples, sweet cider, and warm fall spices.

The apple cider keeps the bread incredibly moist while chunks of fresh-picked apple add little bursts of sweetness throughout. But the finishing touch might just be the best part—a sweet apple cider drizzle poured over the top, adding even more concentrated cider flavor to every slice. It’s the kind of bread that makes the whole kitchen smell like fall while it bakes. Serve it with your morning coffee, as an afternoon treat, or slightly warm when you just can’t wait another minute. You certainly don’t need a century-old apple tree to make it, but around here, picking the apples right outside the kitchen makes this one feel pretty special. 🍎🍂

Method
- Combine flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, salt and ground cinnamon together. Mix in pure vanilla extract, eggs, applesauce, melted butter and diced apples.
- Line a 9×5 loaf pan with parchment paper or grease well. Spoon batter into pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45- 50 minutes.
- When bread has cooled, drizzle Apple Cider Glaze over the top.
- Bring apple cider to a rolling simmer. Continue to simmer until reduced by half. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar and ground cinnamon. If the glaze is thick and coats your spoon, then add 1 Tbsp. heavy cream. If it seems to be still too thin, continue to simmer until thickened.
