Train Wreck Bar & Grill in Burlington, WA was such an unexpected surprise. You might walk in expecting typical bar-and-grill fare, but the menu is anything but ordinary. They offer an impressive selection of fresh, locally inspired dishes with high-quality ingredients and creative menu options.

I ordered the fried oysters and the smoked salmon Cobb salad, but there was a mix-up and I received the fried green tomato caprese instead. We honestly didn’t mind at all because the fried green tomatoes were excellent, and the Cobb salad was packed with the perfect amount of everything.
The cocktails were another standout. I tried the espresso martini and now I’m hooked. The Chili Paloma may be the best one I’ve had in all my travels—the fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice makes such a difference.
Our waitress was very nice and handled everything graciously. Even with the order mix-up, we had a great experience and ended up discovering something we probably wouldn’t have ordered otherwise. Great food, creative drinks, fresh ingredients, and a menu that feels far more elevated than your average bar and grill.
CONS: I wish I would have tried the Fried Oysters, because now I’m really wanting them.
